UNECE in collaboration with REN21 launched the REN UNECE Renewable Energy Status Report 2017 on 12 June, this year. Katarina Uherova Hasbani, consultant at The August Company was the lead author of the report and the associated information gathering. The report was released at the Ministerial Conference and the Eighth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development which was held in conjunction with the Expo Conference and Exhibition 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The UNECE Renewable Energy Status Report 2017 presents an analysis of data on the status of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the selected countries of the UNECE region. It provides a comprehensive overview of the renewable energy market in UNECE. The report explores different facets of the sector including renewable energy and energy efficiency markets, policy and regulatory frameworks, and investment activities. It covers 17 countries, including Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, Russian Federation, Serbia, Tajikistan, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
